Here’s a way to be green that won’t cost you a thing!  It actually saves you 20% between April 13-27 and gives back to charity.  Barneys New York, the Sundance Channel and the eco-chic fashion brand Loomstate have created a national T-shirt recycling program that will start on April 13. Drop off the old shirts Loomstate will “re-fashion” the T-shirts (re-style, re-dye, re-print, etc.) as part of a new, limited edition T-shirt collection which will be sold exclusively at Barneys for Holiday 2008.

The race to find missing children.  The 2008 Fireball Run event will start in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and will zigzag through the coolest parts of America to finish in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Each Fireball Run team is assigned a different missing child, through the Child Rescue Network, and each team must draw as much attention to as possible by speaking with the communities and distributing as many posters as they can along the 3500 mile trek.Â

Unfortunately, the company has been unprofitable for a decade, losing around $30 million over the last five years.  Corning, which has owned the business since 1918, has stated the company will be unloaded this year even if they have to shut the company down.  Steuben is now the only maker of luxury lead crystal left that is still handcrafted in the United States.  Steuben crystal was heralded as the premiere wedding gift.  It would be a shame to see such an era disappear forever.
